Reusing is possible by first cleaning a (used) grid and then (re)placing an additional double-sided adhesive on the grid.
Textile HD-EMG grids can be reused a few times. Reusing is possible by placing an additional adhesive on the grid. This article explains which steps to take to reuse the Textile HD-EMG Grids.
Step 1: Preparation
Before cleaning, please ensure that the grid is disconnected from the HD-EMG adapter cable.
Step 2: Clean the Textile HD-EMG Grids
To clean the Textile HD-EMG Grids, place the grid under a steady stream of lukewarm running water. Avoid using hot water, as it may damage the fabric or electrodes. Gently wash the electrode surfaces by rubbing it with your fingers to make sure all gel is removed. Please make sure no water reaches the connector part of the grid.
If you’re using the grid for the first time, please continue to step 3.
If you’re using the grid for the second or more time, please carefully remove the additional adhesive you placed during the previous use. This additional adhesive has a protruding section which allows for easier removal. After removing the additional adhesive, rinse again to ensure all excess gel is removed.
Step 3: Drying
After washing the grid, dry the grid with a clean, dry cloth and let it air-dry. Ensure the grid is completely dry before preparing the grid for reuse.
Step 4: Prepare for re-use
After the grid is cleaned and dried, place a new adhesive on the grid that matches your Textile HD-EMG Grid. Please note that this additional adhesive will always be placed on top of the original adhesive. This original adhesive should never be removed to prevent damaging the electrode traces underneath.
Step 5: Storage
Store the prepared grid in a dark and dry place. Prevent direct sunlight getting on the electrodes.
NOTE
We recommend preparing the grid for reuse with the abovementioned steps as soon as possible after having used the grid, to ensure easy cleaning and prevent deterioration of the electrode surface. The number of times you can reuse the textile grids depends on users’ experience with preparation of the grids and whether all instructions were followed properly.
