You can measure accelerations via the built-in accelerometer or via an additional accelerometer sensor.
There are two ways to measure 3D accelerations with SAGA:
- Using the built-in accelerometer in the Data Recorder.
- Using an additional accelerometer sensor that can be connected to the AUX input of SAGA.
The additional accelerometer is available for purchase separately. For more information about this sensor, please reach out to your local distributor.
Using the Built-in accelerometer
To utilize the built-in accelerometer, the 'Internal Accelerometer' channel should be enabled in the SAGA User Application. By enabling this channel, the internal 3D accelerometer located in the Data Recorder is activated. Three additional channels are visible in the signal viewer: X-axis, Y-axis, and Z-axis. The acceleration is then measured in the coordinate system specified in the user manual (refer to chapter 3.6 of the SAGA user manual). These channels are also stored with the same name in the saved file when a recording is started.
Additional 3D accelerometer sensor
The 3D accelerometer sensor can be plugged into one of the AUX ports on the Data Recorder. If this AUX port is enabled on SAGA, the X, Y and Z channels are added automatically to the viewer when the sensor is connected. The coordinate system is defined in the manual of the sensor. Now, the 3D accelerometer can be attached to the desired location on the body and a measurement can be started. Accelerometer data will be recorded to the X, Y and Z channels in the saved file.
